Consideration of Theme
In 1955, the truths of personal lives were becoming more public and less judged as can be seen in Little Richard's song, “Tutti Frutti.” In this song, the singer speaks of two girls in his life: Sue and Daisy. The singer speaks of having feelings for both women, a truth that was normal but which had been hidden from the public in the past. The musical style of this song is also different to the music from the past because, though it has a jazzy feel such as was common during this time, it is beginning to resemble the future genre of rock and roll with the very upbeat rhythm and more explosive noise. This song represents the change that occurred in music and in society at that time as the people on Western society began to open their minds to new things.
